Back to the battlefield we traveled. Celebrated and decorated soldiers after our Thursday night dinner crowning of the best women’s baseball team yet, we returned to battle. We were knocked back by  unexpected  terrain, the men’s diamond. Many questions came to mind. How do we set up the dug out? Why is the back net so far away? What is this fence doing in our outfield? and who are these two men dressed in blue hanging around for? It was a challenge but we finally put up the dugout. Uniforms were donned, for some the very last time and for some the last time this season. We went out fighting with Caitlin on the mound.

Unfortunately we gave away a few runs struggling to get the outs. Eventually we pulled together and made the outs putting us into bat led out by Rose one more time. Walks, safe hits and excellent base running saw us get a enough runs across the plate. In the field however was where our battle began to go down hill, missed fielding opportunities saw Willeton get a few to many runs across the home plate. Our at bat saw a few good hits landing us with loaded bases only to see a a run down play and an out at third seeing them with three outs. We went back in to field and Vette stepping up on the mound and led us to a easy fielding inning putting us right back into bat again. In the end we went down by five runs to Willeton. We cheered ourselves up however with krispy kremes, cupcakes and presents. We will come back from Christmas ready to take the second half of the season by storm.

Before we wind up another, close to all our hearts,  note must be addressed. “Bruce the bat” will not be swung for UWA again, we won’t be seeing a Bonefield slug again, Rosie won’t be there to make anymore clever puns in the dug outs anymore, nor will we watch her beautiful yet wickedly deadly arm throw a perfectly graceful ball again. Rose is leaving us and we could not be more at a loss. We will all undoubtedly miss you on and off the field and your presence in the club and the team is something we can never replace. We wish Rose all the best of luck in her future in Melbourne and a huge congratulations on your scholarship! Just remember to come visit us!

Tool : Rosie for forgetting her shoes on Thursday training, forcing Joe to go shoe less at training.

MVP: Megan for the newly learnt catching skills behind the plate.

?Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Nurse Field Good aka Megan.
