14/12/14 UWA Women vs Rockingham

This time around the lady whips enjoyed what little sunday sleep-in they had as it was Rockingham who made the road trip this week. The home ground spirit flowing strongly through our veins after so many weeks away. We showed up fighting, determined to make this our third win and smash the clubs women’s baseball win record! We were not deterred by the glory players that had had decided our outfield would be a great place to practice but instead motivated us to slug balls out that way. We started off strong with Lisa on the mound and some fabulous fielding didn’t see the Rams bat for very long before it was our turn. We got a few on the board before we had to field again but not before Lisa got caught in the beginning of a run down play and tripped, giving us a good laugh. Before long and some more great fielding and a fantastic catch from Jax at second base that ultimately earned her the MVP cup saw us right back into bat. And what a inning that was, completely through the line up and 8 runs on the board. We had some great hits and even better base running, fantastic stealing from Rachel and Lisa and Megan refusing to be picked off after about 6 attempts from the pitcher. The lady whips were determined to continue.

Typical of the lady whips the second half of the game we like to give Darren a few skipped heart beats and saw us with a few missed fielding opportunities and crappy throws. The Rams managed to score a few runs with a monstrous hit into left field. Their could-be-catch-up inning was shortened (thankfully) as we started to defend our runs and got three out. We went back in to bat as the Rams changed their pitcher, we weren’t deterred and managed to score another three runs in the end with a lovely triple by Rose at two down for the count, much to the complaint of Emily, who was forced to run three bases. We fought and defended and celebrated our way to a 11-4 win against the Rams. Our third win and if i’m not getting to ahead of my self, double AAs are in for a challenge ;) Well done Lady Whips, better and better each week and found our spirit again. Willeton won’t know whats hit them next week.

MVP: A tie between Lisa’s great 93 balls pitched and Jax and her great fielding.

Tool: Jax for wearing her helmet out to field and Lisa and her very humorous trip up.

Nurse Field Good aka Megan.
